Afternoon Light was founded by Deirdre Maloney and Minya Quirk, co-founders of the Shoppe Object and Capsule trade shows and longtime veterans of the fashion and design industries.
Launched in New York City in 2025 under the moniker Shelter, Afternoon Light Design Fair brings together a curated group of designers, brands, and makers working across furniture, lighting, and objects for the home. The fair offers a space for discovery and conversation around contemporary design and the people shaping how we live today.
